“Divine intervention is a term for a miracle caused by a deity’s God’s active involvement in the human world.”

The Lord still works today. I have witnessed this by the way God has perfectly orchestrated situations that I have been apart of and experienced. There is this common misconception I grew up believing and that is presented in churches- that God doesn’t work in our days and that was for disciples to see or Bible times.

It was in Nepal that I first changed my way of thinking that these scenarios were not just coincidences and saw that God was actively working in my life. And the divineness of the Lord continued to show up n Cambodia during our campus evangelism. Month 5 I went on a trek with a team through the Himalayas. To say this was one of the coolest experiences in my life would be understatement; never have I asked someone if they knew Jesus and received a response of “Who?”

Through a series of events (hint hint- God) we were not on schedule with our trek and arrived to our lodging site for the night late causing us to make the decision if we would trek to the village that night to evangelize or wait until the morning. We were freezing (at least this Texas girl was), hungry, exhausted, and being fed popcorn and hot tea…we weren’t going anywhere for the night.

We woke in the morning and hiked down like ten million stairs, but honestly, to reach a small village that depends solely on hikers and trekkers. So since it was winter, it was basically a ghost town. After the descent of stairs, we found a small inn that was run by a couple, Santa and Durga…(yes we met Santa) We got to tell this couple the entire story- from creation, to sacrifice of animals, to Jesus and what is to come! This was the mans first time hearing anything about Jesus but the wife had been listening to a Christian radio station, which is unheard of in a Hindu country. The Lord perfectly placed us in this moment so a seed could be planted. We could have continued our trek the day before and something cool probably would have happened but this was where we were meant to be. Divine Intervention- check.

Month 6 in Cambodia the team I was with was working at a church and doing campus evangelism. This was an awkward task, going up to random college students and engaging in small talk (which I hate by the way). But from the amount of awkward encounters that were had there was one conversation that made it all worth it.

A group of three of us asked if we could sit with three boys who were studying engineering. After some time of “where are you from”/ “what do you want to be when you grow up,” the Lord interrupted. Our translator began talking to the boys in Khmer and after sometime one of the boys said “So I hear you are here to tell about the Good News… so begin.” We were dumbfounded; our jaws dropped. The boy went on the explain that he was a Christian AND THEN began evangelizing to his own friends, who didn’t even know he was a Christian. Due to God’s perfect timing and placing a couple random Americans in this guys path, he felt convicted to share his beliefs and heart with his friends. We could have been anywhere else on campus at this time but we weren’t, God placed us on that bench with those boys for a specific purpose. Divine intervention- check.

The saying goes “everything happens for a reason,” and I believe this to be true but now I am confident that it is the Lord working in everything for His reason.
