Sorry this is so long in coming.. wifi hasn’t been strong enough to upload photos and still isn’t.. so here’s the review but without pictures, so you’ll have to use your imagination.
Last month. We stayed in Palacaguina and did lots of construction on a bilingual school. We moved lots of rocks and dirt but had a beautiful view during construction that I honestly never got tired of.
We would take breaks every day around 11 and have coke in a bag and donuts. It was such a different culture and it was so cool to experience it in little ways like drinking Coke out of a bag. We also rode in a truck to and from work sometimes. If we weren’t riding in the truck we would walk. It was about a 20 minute walk to construction each day.
Construction consisted of mostly moving dirt. Crazy what things God can speak through if you let him. God spoke to me so much when I was moving rocks and dirt. And I might still have a bruise from a rock on my foot.
We also were paired up with Team Redeemed and got to work/live and do life with them.
We got to climb a water tower and watch sunsets. It was beautiful. Also got to spend a lot of time with Jesus on this tower.
We spent a day exploring a canyon in Somoto on an off day. I hate heights and I’m honestly not a big fan of water but I had so much fun and overcame a lot of fear and jumped off a cliff with Hannah.
Another off day was spent at a hostel in Leon right on the beach. This was such an amazing to relax and refocus.
We also got to build some really good relationships. One being, Adiath. I don’t speak the same language as him but we communicated through music.. through wiping paint on each others faces.. through laughs.. through repeating, “No se” (I don’t know) over and over again. Even though we didn’t speak the same language the love of Christ was evident in his life. Really going to miss him and all his crazy handshakes.
We also got to know Jackie and her kids. She was our ministry hosts wife. She is the sweetest women I have ever met. She would get up early and work most of the day cooking meals for us. She was so welcoming and so giving. Getting to know her and her two kids was so much fun.
516 ministries is doing incredible things and getting to work with them was an incredible experience.
