Greeting friends and family
For the past 4 years I have been studying the Bible at Liberty University and serving Jesus in my city. I love studying the Bible and love having the opportunity to minister to the people of my city, from young children to homeless war veterans. I have loved living alongside of them and sharing my love for Jesus with them over the past 4 years. I will be graduating this December and pursuing my Masters of Divinity in January. I have spent quite a lot of time in school and I have poured my heart into local ministry, I have loved seeing people come to Jesus and seeing those very people lead others to Jesus. After being in school for so long and spending time in first world North America I have come to realize that God is so much bigger than what I can see with my own two eyes.
This summer I took a step of faith and stayed in the United States all summer. I was involved in a few different ministries, and I learned so much. This is my last semester of undergrad and then in August of 2016 I will be launching on the World Race. After my ministry experience this summer, I sensed the Lord was asking me to trust him with the big things and more so my future.
The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission to 11 countries around the world. One of the unique things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work with refugees, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations. I have a passion to see lives radically changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide. I find that command we read in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
I will face many challenges all throughout the World Race, but as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is financial support. World Race participants are required to raise support. In order to leave fully funded in August, I need to raise $18000. This money will cover land, air and sea travel, gear and all of my field expenses for the 11 months. To cover the whole race I have broken down the cost of the 11 months, training camp and post race camp to $50 a day, and $350 dollars a week. You can donate right here on my blog by clicking the “support me” tab! As I take step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you prayerfully consider sponsoring me for one day at $50, one day a month, or even one week? Would you consider sponsoring me for one day of prayer, one day of prayer a month or even one week?
I would love to call you and answer any questions you have about the race and join you and your family in prayer. You can also visit my blog at (emilykerkhof.theworldrace.org) or email me at [email protected] to find out more about me and follow my journey.
