I am a first generation American. My dad Henry is Polish and my mom Olga is Ukrainian. I am the middle child of three. I have an older brother whose name is Eric and a younger sister named Natalie. Growing up my Grandparents meant everything to me and taught me so much. I have so many wonderful memories including them and the utmost respect for them. They have helped shape me into the person that I am today. They sacrificed so much when they moved across the world to the United States.
As a first generation American, I am extremely privileged to have been given the opportunities and amenities available to me as a U.S. Citizen. After World War II my grandparents on both sides of my family came from other countries where they lived in extreme impoverished conditions. Like many, they moved to America “the land of opportunity” where they could give their families and one day, their grandchildren religious freedom to worship God as they pleased and a better chance for a more stable living environment. Most importantly, they wanted to give their children and grandchildren the chance to receive an education. They weren’t as fortunate and couldn’t stress education enough. As a result of their sacrifices we’ve all been able to go to school, worship/live freely and comfortably, and without judgement or fear.
Now it's my turn to give back. All in the name of the Father's love. I feel God has called me right to the World Race. Through my own struggles of starting my career I've recently come to the realization that one’s life doesn’t constantly have to be centered around work and the hustle and bustle of life. Career path shouldn't be what defines who a person is, but love for God, interaction with others, community, and family is what really matters.
By joining the WR, I am hoping to incorporate all that I have learned by applying it with passion towards the cultures and the people of each area we visit, which in return will increase my own sensitivities to the needs, desires, and ambitions of the population. I am so overjoyed with excitement to see what God has in store for me, my group, and the people of the countries we will be journeying to. A big huge THANK YOU to those of you who have already and to those of you who will support me!!
As Pastor Stephen always says at the end of each church service…."Grace and Peace".
