Heyo!
So, I'm going to keep this post short and sweet (partly to make up for my last post which was incredibly long, but mostly because I like logistical explanations to be straightforward).
I first and foremost want to state that, more than anything, I'm in need of your prayers and love. I'm honestly more concerned about my spiritual and emotional needs than I am of my financial needs in regards to this adventure. This is going to be a crazy, life-changing time for me and my teammates, and your prayers for wisdom, joy, strength, etc. as well as your words of love/encouragement are extremely coveted! ๐ Bring 'em!
Secondly, if you've clicked on the link to this post, I'm assuming you're at least somewhat interested in supporting me financially for this trip (alright!). At this point I need $12,000 in order to go. Here's a few ways you can help:
1. Online – this may be the easiest way for most of you to donate. Try this link! http://www.adventures.org/give/donate.asp?giveto=worldrace If that doesn't work for some reason – let me know! Make sure under "Choose Program" you click on "Support a World Racer" and then enter my full name (Emily Molloy) into the next box. Everything after that is self-explanatory. ๐ The only negative about donating online is that 3% of credit/debit card donations is taken out for processing, and 2% of bank draft donations are taken out for the same reason. Online donations can take 3-5 days to process, so no need to worry if you don't hear anything from me right away. Knowing myself, I will annoy you incessantly with many thanks in regards to any kind of donation you make… so I'll let you know when I've received anything from you!
[Also, if you decide to make a recurring online donation towards my trip, make sure you stop it after I've been on the field for 6 months (June 2013) or once I have received all of my funds (I'll give you a holler). Any donations after my first 6 months overseas will no longer go towards my final deadline.]
2. Check – If you want to donate via snail mail, I'd encourage it! No processing fees are charged to check-donations AND you get to support your national post office (go USPS!). However, check-donations do take 2 weeks to process and you have the small chance of getting the check lost in the mail… but those are minor details, ha! So, if you want to write a check MAKE SURE you:
A. Make the check payable to Adventures in Missions (NOT to me).
B. Write "Appealed by Emily Molloy" in the memo. That way they know your donation is going towards my account.
C. Mail the check to:
Adventures in Missions
P.O. Box 534470
Atlanta, GA 30353-4470
D. Don't post date a check. It will be processed upon arrival and both you and AIM will be charged a fee from the bank.
E. Print out one of these donor cards and send it along with your check (if you can/if this link works). http://www.adventures.org/valkyrie/mystuff/mobilization/documents/support_card.asp?FirstName=Emily&LastName=Molloy&PreferredFirstName=Emily&Account_Type_Id=1&Appeal_Id=MOLLOYEMILY&AccountType=World%20Race
3. Me – If you want, you can always send your donation directly to me (check, cash, gift, etc.) via snail mail, slipping through a hand shake/high five, personally delivered letter, hiding it under my pillow, making a scavenger hunt… you name it. Anything that is given directly to me I will either send in to AIM with the rest of the money I will personally be donating towards my trip OR I'll put towards my other expenses for my time overseas (vaccinations, malaria medication, camping gear, international insurance, deodorant for the year, toothbrush so my teeth don't fall out, etc.).
If you want to mail anything to me, give me a call/send me a message and I'll let you know what my new address in Chicago is (for those of you who knew my old Chicago address, I've moved! Don't send anything to my old apartment!).
4. Other things that would be good to know
1. AIM doesn't accept cash donations. So don't snail mail them a wad of benjamin's. ๐
2. There are a few other ways you can donate (like through money orders, dynapay and international donations) so if you have any questions about those, let me know! I just figured I would only explain the more common forms of donating in this little spiel.
3. Donations made to AIM are tax-deductable (woo!). Check out this link http://www.adventures.org/policies and talk to your tax advisor for more info.
4. Donations are non-refundable and non-transferable (this keeps AIM at a non-profit status). You can go here for more info: http://www.adventures.org/policies
5. That is all! Thank you so much!
-Em
