I Am Emily
Hi!
My name is Emily.
Nice to meet you!
Some of you may think that you know me and maybe even that you know me well… And you're probably right. However, allow me to take a moment to just tell you who I am… Because who I was in January is not quite the same person that I am today.
.
.
.
My name is Emily Catherine Molloy.
I am a 24 year old woman.
I was born and raised in Newark, Delaware, USA, and will always call that place home… Although, Chicago, Illinois, USA, has put up a strong fight to win that title in my heart. I suppose we could say that at this moment they're tied.
I love to run, play ultimate frisbee, and work out. My general well being is drastically altered for the worst when I don't partake in at least one of those activities daily.
When I return to America I hope to buy a nice road bike and ride it everywhere I need to go.
I love to sing, dance, and laugh.
I still love me some solid indie music but dubstep and spoken word are quickly working their way up to the top of my favorite genres list.
I have a growing interest in photography/filmography and the impact they can make upon humanity.
I have developed a strong love for babies over the past couple of months (Meredith Weber – can you believe it?!).
I absolutely love puppies and fully intend on buying myself one as soon as I settle down somewhere.
My personal space bubble has severely diminished and I have come to love cuddling (again Meredith Weber – can you believe it?!).
I am known as the grungiest person on my team on the race… Even grungier than our boys. Phrases like – "If Emily thinks that shirt smells bad then you DEFINITELY shouldn't wear it." are often thrown around among my team. No shame!
I secretly but not so secretly pretend that Donald Miller and Timothy Keller are my best friends.
I love me a good cup of coffee or tea… So much that I am typically brought to tears when I actually get one on the race. They are few and far between.
Along with that, I absolutely love eating healthy foods. They get me so pumped for life.
Curry is my favorite seasoning and cilantro is my favorite herb.
I love gardening and plan on having my own herb and vegetable garden one day.
I am a beer snob – I won't waste my money on a drink that doesn't come from a micro-brewery.
I love me a good mojito and often think the time is right to have one.
Dark chocolate is my favorite.
Modern Family is my all time favorite television show. It's one of the only shows that can actually get me to laugh out loud while watching it.
My favorite types of movies are the suspenseful ones that you have to watch at least three times before you even begin to understand them… Or anything that is made by Disney-Pixar.
I have a semi-photographic memory. This ability made cramming for tests really successful in college.
I love math and find it incredibly exciting.
I love problem solving.
I love accomplishing tasks. Making "to do" lists and crossing things off of them when they are completed is one if the most satisfying feelings in the world to me.
I love going to bed early and waking up early.
I love sleeping in my tent.
When I think something is extra hilarious I have this problem where the situation replays over and over again in my mind. It causes me to laugh three times as long as everyone else and I love it. I have a freakishly loud voice and I don't know how to tame it.
I love to listen to people and ask questions.
Big groups of people tend to stress me out.
I have a strong conscience and am extremely self-aware.
I over-think most big decisions I have to make. I consider this attribute both a blessing and a curse.
I am a perfectionist.
I don't know how to cry but desperately wish that I did. I'm praying that I develop that skill in a healthy way over the next three and a half months before I return home to America.
I don't trust very many people aside from myself, but God is currently walking me through both a beautiful and painful process in which I am learning to first trust Him with everything and then other people as I am here on this earth.
I am extremely loyal to my family and friends. Once I let an individual get past a certain line in my heart, there is no going back… though, it takes a while for a person to get there.
I am a child of God.
I am His daughter and am extremely loved by Him.
His blessings abound more and more in my life every day.
I desire to share the joy I get from this relationship with the people I am surrounded with.
I hope to honor and serve Him no matter where I end up in the world.
I am excited to see what He has in store for me, because I know that it will be better than anything I can imagine.
I am simply honored to be a part of His kingdom and every day that fact is increasingly becoming more than enough for me.
I am honored to be His friend.
I am honored to be His bride.
the end.
🙂
