Wild at Heart
…this one is for all your men out there… and all the women who want their boys to rise up…
So let me be honest…I was the girl who said yes put me on an all girls team for the year, didn’t feel like dealing with boys and all that drama you know they bring lol…
But what I didn’t know is that on the world race I would encounter not boys but men…and more importantly then anything else, men of God. I am blown away by them day in and day out. I have never been around so many men who truly protect, serve, guard, love, respect, and care for the women they are with. These men are bold, strong, courageous, men of high honor, loyalty, and so passionate about Jesus…
To watch them grow more and more as men of God and step into their roles it has left me in awe.
To hear my brothers in Christ speak out in front of the entire squad saying that it is time for the men on this squad to truly rise up and be the ones to stand in the gap, to stand in front of us and say to satan, you wont touch our sisters unless you come through us first. To hear these men speak out, pray passionately and with such strength over us has changed my life.
They take the time to bless us by picking us a flower, buy our favorite chocolates at the store, take us out to dinner (where we sit on the street eating our pizza love it love it), greet us every morning with a hug and love you sister, clean our dishes and take them from the table, tell us we are more beautiful without the makeup and without our hair brushed or showering everyday (haha you know that’s a big step), they write us notes of encouragement, speak life over us, pray for us, take the lead when we don’t have the words to say, encourage us in our walks with the Lord in bold and new ways, share with us their heart and passions, listen to our hearts, bring a word of scripture every morning to the table, pray off fears and doubts within us, and bless us with small things like killing all the bugs for us…this list could go on and on because these men are changing my life.
I didn’t want too much to do with the boys on this squad and didn’t have a huge interest in going out of my way to pursue their friendships…but they have loved me and protected me day in and day out and have displayed to me what men of God look like in their day to day walk with Jesus…and so with no intentions to get to know them, I now have the most amazing brothers in Christ.
Haha and I love just watching them be boys, wild at heart yes they are…today I went to see how two of my brothers were doing, Kameron and James, who were chopping down trees and cutting up wood. There I found them taking a break and throwing a sharp knife at a tree practicing over and over again to throw it through the air and get it to stick in the tree…my first reaction? Mother Milroy? You guessed it! I thought oh no not safe at all! Instead though I choose to sit back and watch, then started to encourage them and take pictures of them doing it, then they took it upon themselves to help me learn to throw the knife at the tree.
For me it wasn’t about the knife or the tree and if I could do it…it was something so much more than that. It was my two brothers encouraging me and teaching me how to so something and taking the time to sit with me as I missed time and time again.
This mission trip is teaching me SOOOO much about how to support them, encourage them, help them grow into strong men of God, how to serve them, love them, be patient with them, be protected by them, respect them, honor them, and it is helping us grow into the women that we want to be too. …these men are rising up and I cant wait to see all the Lord does in the next 8 months!
FACTS: There are 2 dogs that live here, while doing my QT outside I watched one dog literally shake a tree and jump after pears…YES I SAID PEARS!! And the other dog took his pear and walked up a long slanted board, drop his pear down and run after it…interesting yes…We have 1 week left with Cathy and Jim and the amazing ministry here with the travelers (gypsies) and doing LOTS of evangelism everywhere…I love Ireland and would recommend coming here to anyone and everyone…there are about to be team changes in 1 week, we are not sure how many or who will switch, so if you could be in prayer for that…Romania is next for squad debrief and team changes then who knows?! It is the world race I have learned to stop asking questions J
I love you all mucho!!!
