His Home for Children Orphanage

We have arrived in Haiti! We have not met our ministry contacts yet here at the orphanage called, His Home for Children, because they are not getting back from the states until tomorrow because they are raising financial support for all the kids here! There has been another group here for the week we have been hanging out with and helping from New York. They packed 30 suitcases filled with donations for the children and then 10 full of VBS (vacation bible school) supplies for the children! It has been AWESOME working with this group of adults and youth. Each day consists of crafts, songs, bible stories, snacks, prizes, games, music, and dancing with the kids. The kids absolutely LOVE it! We are doing VBS at a church down the road and we take a break each day for an hour to eat lunch back at the house.

Living in the orphanage house I am in there are 13 babies, under the age of 1, all kids under the age of 6, and all the older girls live in one house and then there is a house for the older boys. There were 125 kids living here but after the earthquake the ones whose adoptions were being processed in the states got sent to America to finish out the waiting process there. This is hard to explain over a blog but it is a good thing they got sent to America and do have families. So now there are about 35 kids at the orphanage.

The kids are adorable here. They are completely opposite of the kids that I just spent the last month with. These kids are loved on by the couple that runs the orphanage, by the staff and people that take care of them, and they said they have mission groups like us come through and pour love into these kids. Still I am finding though that this does not replace having a mother and a father and my prayer is that each one of these children gets adopted soon. When you ask them where they would like to go from here they all say to America, I want to be adopted and have a mother and father. Many have lost their parents in the earthquake. It can be difficult to even know what to say sometimes to them with all the tragedy they have faced.

We have an idea of what they would like us to do while we are here but I will wait until I know for sure before I let you all know! Right now this is awesome and its exactly where my heart is. These kids are loved on but they still need so much love. They still need people to invest in their lives and dance with them, sing with them, just be girly and do nails, look at pictures, teach they carpentry (boys), braid each others hair, and talk about boys J These are things they love to do and have been so amazing to get to be a part of this with them. Some nights after VBS and playing and dinner some of the kids ask us to watch a movie with them and we all cuddle up on the couch and floor like one big happy family. I love this. I love tucking them in at night and reading the bible with them. I love talking about what they are interested in, holding the babies until they stop crying, watching them get excited that we know some of the same songs from the states, seeing their faces light up when they get excited about silly bands, and especially watching the older girls open up with us and desire to hang out with and be around older girls.

Thank you so much for your support in every way, none of this would be possible without you!! I was thinking of you all today and praying that you would know how your support and prayers have made this all possible. We want to make a video soon so you can see the kids that you are loving on through supporting us!! Love you guys!
