Last Friday, Will went to an English corner at a Business University. An English corner is a place where students gather to practice their English. They talk to each other or foreigners who are visiting. An English corner can take place in a coffee shop, classroom, or if there are enough students, outside with a microphone. Will introduced himself to the entire group and from this many students have called him to hang out again. Paris invited us to walk around Harbin and see the sights. Paris and seven of her friends showed our entire team (6 of us) around a Buddhist temple and an Engineering University. Both places are famous Harbin. We walked and talked to each other students. It was fun to share similarities of school and hear about the importance of Education in China. Many Chinese students are not able to pick their major, it is chosen for them based on their grades. Many Chinese students are far from home and unable to see their family until the semester ends. Chinese parents have rules on dating, schooling, and working based on their traditional values. Some students are unable to date until they are completely finished with school and obtained a job. Other students are not able to date anyone who is not from their hometown, this way they share a similar culture.

We followed up with Paris and her friends last night. We went to their University and were able to share the gospel with about 20 students. As a team we outlined the story of the bible and answered their questions. This was my first experience sharing the gospel and I found it amazing. The students asked very good questions about Judaism, the importance of animals, faith, how to talk to God, and others. It was an awesome time and I pray that what we said resonates with the students. It was amazing to see different teammates personalities come alive as we shared. God uniquely fit us together because we all have different strengths and passions. Rebekah is a prayer warrior, Sharion speaks with eloquence, Kyle loves to tell people about Jesus, Linley is open about her life, and Will speaks with tons of passion. I am so blessed by my teammates! We will see Paris and her friends again on Tuesday night for English corner and potentially some karaoke! I am excited to see people who don’t traditionally sing or dance on the team let loose! Ah karaoke in China, how sweet! Until next time…
