“Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.”  -Brene Brown

I am joy-filled! Things are good!

I have been talking a lot with my squad mates. I talk with Hannah and Laura weekly. We are able to encourage one another and share in hopes, joys, struggles, and preparation for the Race. I have found myself connecting with these girls as we share both funny and serious things. I love how connected I feel to someone I’ve never met before. God is definitely bringing together the perfect 60 people to make up U squad. Through this we will find new best friends, feel a sense of belonging, and be family for a year.

Through talking with there girls (and others), I’ve been able to encourage them and be encouraged. I always wished that God would use me to encourage others and now he is! I love how one of my friends will tell me a verse that I turn around and tell someone else. I love how that process and connection works!

I have really been learning about God and my relationship with Him through my small groups. I love to hear peoples’ opinions about things and learn how other people see/talk to God. I am exploring what my own relationship with God looks like and how I am a part of the body of Christ. I’m excited to explore these ideas further.

I am also joyful because of the generosity of others. I have $5000 in my account to date. AND with monthly pledges I have successfully raised $8000. That means I only need $7500 more to be fully funded.

Thanks you so much to those who have given. I feel blessed to have support from coworkers, family, church friends, college friends, my parents’ friends, and many more. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I can say that I have felt a spirit of peace over this entire fundraising adventure. God has provided for my trips in the past and I have no doubt that He will provide again. I have a stronger feeling that God will fully-fund me before the February 2014 deadline!
