We were supposed to be handing out fliers.
Four of us (Brandon, Rachel, Taryn and I) were walking around Cornseti with Anna and Veronica, two members of the church. We were supposed to be handing out fliers for an evangelism meeting tonight. As we were wonder around the town, it is that the market is over and no one is out. So Veronica said “Lets go visit Victor!” We were all totally up for anything.
So we headed over to Victors house and I learned a little bit about the guy we were headed to see. He’s 21 years old and used to be a huge partier. From what I understand, this past spring something happened, I’m not sure what, but he is now paralyzed. A lot was lost in translation, I understood that alcohol, drugs and cars were involved, but I don’t think it was an accident.
We walked into his house and met his sister and her husband, and she ushered us into a back room where Victor was. He laid in a tiny room on a small brown futon. The room had one small window and a dresser. He looked well taken care for, but still so sad. As we talked and laughed with Victor, it became so apparent that he knew exactly what was going on, but couldn’t respond at all. All he said was da (yes) or nu (no). But you could see so much through his eyes. We told him about our lives, and what we were doing in Moldova. I sang Amazing Grace for him and then I shared the gospel with him (which, if you know me at all is a really big deal). Anna talked with him about God’s love for him and provision. She said that God has not forgotten him, and still has big plans in his life. It was heart breaking to see such a young man, so full of joy, trapped in his own body.
I beg you to keep Victor in your prayers. If you have any message you want me to tell him, just put a comment on this blog. I hope to be able to visit him again soon. I would love to see God work through him!
