After a few fun days in Tamel, Kathmandu's downtown, I was so ready to start our time in Africa. We got to the airport at 5 a.m., ready to check in for our 8 o'clock flight. After sitting around for 12 hours (and getting free breakfast and lunch in the process!) we finally got on the plane to Bahrain, then to Kenya. We thankfully were set up for a 9 hour layover in Bahrain, so we RAN from gate to gate and made it to our flight to Kenya just in time. We ran past a Chilli's and past a Starbucks that had the red Christmas cups out! When we got into Kenya, it was early in the morning and we got to our hostel and crashed. The next day, we found out that two girls, Kayla and Kaitlyn were going home. The next day, we lost one more of our squad, Logan. Our team had already lost Steve this month, and with so many teams losing members teams changed around.
I'm so happy to have a few new members on my team! Erin, Cody, Rachel, Becca and I are still together, but we've added Josh and Frank. Josh was on my first team, and I am so happy to have him back and to get to know Frank better.
This past week in Nairobi was not easy – decisions were made that were sometimes hard to handle, people were hurt and there were things we all needed to move past, but we made it through. Sometimes things aren't perfect, but I had to make a decision to trust those people God has put in authority. Even if we don't agree with what they do, we can trust that God will use their decisions for all of our good.
That being said, I am excited to leave for our ministry in Nakuru and ready to get back out on the field!
