After a relatively quick five hour bus ride, we arrived at the church where we would be working for the month. We met Pastor Phillip and his wife who live at the church and settled in. This month is going to be a challenge I think. We are living at the church, the girls are literally sleeping on the stage behind the pulpit. We have a tub of water in the backyard and that is our washing machine/ dishwasher/ shower and sink. Life is simple here, but it’s nice.

The people are so friendly and welcoming. The church is an after school hangout for the kids from the primary school next door. Especially now since we are here. The first day was absolutely crazy. Erin, Cody and Steve played soccer with the boys, but the girls were not into that. So Becca, Rachel and I thought we’d have the girls show us around the town. We ended up each with little swarms of 15 or 20 each pulling us all over town. They each wanted to take us to their house.

One house we went to, the mother of one of the girls was there and she had their version of MTV on the television. So, we decided to have a dance party with the little girls to try to open them up. We ended up with the whole street standing in the living room and in the front yard, looking through the windows, watching us dance. It was so awkward!!

We are spending a lot of our time doing house visits and community outreach. Rachel and I got to walk to the jungle to meet a woman who was a member of the church!! So many people in this community have amazing stories. We met a woman who had been crazy for 22 years. She would walk up and down the streets, never knowing who she was or where she was. Her family had given up on her. However, a few men from the church literally carried her there one day, the community started to pray and within a few months, she was back in her right mid and attending church regularly. She was so enthusiastic about the lord and what he has done for her, it was so encouraging to us to hear.

I am so excited for our ministry in Nepal, it will be challenging, but good. I can’t wait to see what God has planned or us this month.
