We have Saturday afternoon and sundays off here. So, when you are 20-somethings in Europe for a limited time, do you rest during your day off? No! We haven’t spent a weekend in Sistarovat (where the camp is) since we’ve been here.

The first weekend, we took the train to Arad, the biggest city around here. Our contact Romy pretty much has a hotel in the attic of his house. We walked around the city, and found the most awesome little festival! We ate so much food! There was the most awesome thing where they wrapped bread around a stick then out it over a fire, and put flavoring on it. We devoured the honey bread pretty much instantly. I’ve also fallen in love with placinta – basically bread with filling. My favorite.

The next morning, we went to the church that Romy is the pastor of and got to experience a Romanian church for the first time. I, of course, ended up singing. Nerve racking, but I’m trying to remember my old post (here).

The next weekend, we went to Oradia, where other members of our squad were, including the girls from a team we spent time in Moldova with. It was so fun and encouraging to see them! They are working at a orphanage there.

Right now, I’m sitting back in Romy’s attic, getting ready to go somewhere tomorrow. Basically we’re getting on a train and going to go wherever the first and cheapest train takes us. Hopefully I’ll come back with beautiful stories and pictures!
