So often, we think things are supposed to be perfect. We pray for things to work out in the way we think they should and anything that’s not how we want it is not right. I know so often that I see pain, frustration, sadness or anything I deem “imperfect” and I want to know what I can do to fix it. I think it’s not from God. It’s not right.

This past sunday, my team and I got to meet a sweet little baby named Adam. He had been abandoned by his family at the hospital and a missionary couple that works at the hospital had adopted him. They were in Delhi on Sunday to get him some medical attention and they stopped by Asha for Sunday worship. You see, Baby Adam is not “perfect”. Mrs. Sharma warned us before we saw him that he was “incomplete”. Baby Adam is missing so many parts of his body, his eyelids, nose, mouth, and fingers are all missing and his feet and legs are fused together into one. His family didn’t want him and if they took him home from the hospital, they were going to kill him.

But God has plans for little Baby Adam. Jessica and her husband Raja have adopted this little boy and already she is full of stories about how he as touched her and her husband, her family, and their network of supporters. He is imperfect, but as his name implies, he was created in the image of God. Exactly how he was supposed to be. He has done more and touched more people in his week-old life than I have in my 22 years. You can see God in his little face and his life.

Baby Adam’s chances of survival if he were to stay in India is not very high. He eats through a tube and babies with his syndrome are often given a life expectancy of 20 months. There are doctors who are willing to help in America, but getting him there is a process and they’re not exactly sure if they can help. But no matter how long or short Adam’s life is, Jessica and her husband are set on giving him the life he deserves, with a loving family and a chance at an abundant life.
