Vietnam for Thanksgiving?!
I'm going to be honest and say I never could have dreamed this one up on my own. My Thanksgiving plans would have been vastly different, because my plans are safe. My plans would have included sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie, a cute sweater, my high heeled boots, colorful leaves, turkey decorations, harmonies while doing dishes, and my whole family eating and laughing together all night. God's plans? Well they look a bit different year. That is one of the cool parts about having such a creative and loving God. His dreams things up I never could.
I do miss home today. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little sad I won't get a giant hug from my momma and pops, talk to my brudder and Juno, play with my sweet niece, hold my puppy, or be able to cuddle my sissies after dinner on the couch. Okay, a lot sad. But, that in itself is something to be thankful for. I have people worth missing.
I am so blessed and have so, so much to be thankful for.
1. My family. I miss you all every single day and I love you so much.
2. My roomies. Let's just buy a giant house when I get home and all live in it. That was the plan right?
3. My other besties. Sunday nights are not the same without the OC and our "talks"
4. My church. I am so thankful for a church that taught me the importance of community, discipleship, and serving and who pushed me to be more like Christ every day. Can't wait to worship with all of you again.
5. My team. I'm so thankful that you are the people I get to travel the world with. I love you so much.
6. My R squad girls. Can't wait to reunite with you and talk about our adventures. What's left of my finger tatoo reminds me of you everyday.
7. My supporters. Watching God provide for all of this through you was one of the coolest experiences I have ever had.
8. The amazing couple who is taking us into their home today and cooking us an American Thanksgiving 3 days after moving into their home.We had the best night . Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. All my Vietnamese friends. This month has been beyond incredible. I can't believe we have to leave so soon.
10. Skype calls that let me in on Thanksgiving at home, a month with beds, air conditioning, and hot showers, Vietnamese coffee, moto rides, tea talks, teaching English, a new dress (thanks Chels), worship music, New Girl, karaoke nights, headphones, Jesus talks, laughter, and all of the incredible experiences I have had in the last 3 months.
I have the coolest life full of the very best people. Whether you are back home or right here with me, I am thankful for all of you who make my life absolutely beautiful. Happy Thanksgiving!!
