Vulnerability. That is a hard word to swallow. People, including me are not comfortable with vulnerability and try to avoid it at all cost. The past few days have been dedicated to debrief. Debrief is when we come together as a whole squad and process the past month and focus on building our relationships with each other and with Christ. This debrief, the focus was vulnerability. In order to fully live in community with each other, we must be able and willing to be vulnerable with each other. Through vulnerability comes great freedom and release. We were able to share past experiences or current thoughts and emotions that we are experiencing that we may normally just keep to ourselves or share with one or two other people. But here, we created a safe place within our squad and many were able to share in front of 50 other people. We all knew that whatever we have gone through our whatever we are presently going through, our squad will love us no matter what.
So, I am going to be vulnerable with all of you and share one of the things that God has revealed to me in these past few days. One of the things he has revealed to me is that I have been more dependent on other people, specifically my parents, sisters, and friends. I have been taking some problems, situations, and celebrations to them before I would take them to God. I would rely on them to help me fix my problems and help me make decisions instead of seeking God’s guidance. John 6:63 says that “the spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you-they are full of the spirit and life.” God provides so much more than any one person can. By taking things first to the Lord, I am seeking His will for my life; His good and perfect will. And He can provide me with things that no earthly person can; He provides for all my needs.
It is so amazing how God has opened my heart and mind to things in just the past few days and I am so excited to see what He is going to continue to reveal to me. New blog coming soon about what our ministry is here in Albania!
