Well, it’s October 26, 2012 and my month here in Australia
is quickly coming to an end. In
some way’s this month flew by, in others it took it’s sweet time passing (and I
made sure to enjoy every second of it).
I’ve been trying to decide what to write about. In some ways
we’ve done so much. We have definitely been busier than we were in Malaysia.
Almost every other day we have gone to work at Vinnie’s, a temporary housing
location for men.
Our jobs at Vinnie’s varied from weeding/picking vegetables
from a greenhouse, scrubbing down a kitchen, cooking lunch, cleaning out a
shed-like warehouse, cleaning rooms/a chapel/an art studio, and sorting through
clothing (for a secondhand store they run). At lunch we would sit with the men
who lived there and just fellowshipped. We were able to build relationships not
only with the tenants, but the staff. Which made today, are last day, a little
emotional for some people.
On some of our off days/nights we did prayer walking. On our
first day we walked around a park by the coast, we headed down to the beach and
ran into 4 homeless people. We spent about an hour just talking to them and
prayed for them.
Our view while prayer walking… just suffering for Jesus
We also had the opportunity to head out to the Northern
Territory’s newest city, Woodell, and pray over it. Right now it just looks
like a lot of trees and a few dirt roads. It was awesome knowing that we were
probably the first people to pray for, and over, this new city.

Of course, we haven’t been working 24/7 non-stop; we have
been able to enjoy some of Darwin’s attractions.
Stop 1: Eating a Kangaroo burger on the waterfront.
Stop 2: Meeting up with the other teams staying here in
Darwin and having a fun day at the wave pool.
Stop 3: Sitting on top of a large rock by the ocean,
underneath the stars, hearing the sound of the crashing waves, and worshipping
God with Hannah and Raven while marveling at His creation.
Stop 4: Celebrating birthdays! It’s been a month of
birthdays; seriously, we’ve celebrated 3 here in Darwin. It’s nice being able
to gather together and fellowship with one another.
Stop 5: Litchfield National Park. We were able to go to the
most beautiful waterfall, with the clearest water I’ve ever seen! No matter how
hard I tried I couldn’t touch the bottom, but I could see it because the water
was so clear!

Well, I’ve officially perfected my Aussie accent, picked up
on some new lingo, eaten kangaroo and crocodile (I do not recommend either),
met people who are working hard to minister to the people of Darwin, and have
seen some of God’s beautiful creation… I’d say this month has been a success!
Oh, and today was like
Christmas! I received a package from my family! It contained the camera I
bought just for the race, but accidentally left at home. That means more
pictures, because now I can actually take them and not steal them from my
teammates! Perhaps, I will also become better at blogging, one can only hope!
