Down on her knees she begged the Lord to give her a practical skill.

One that would make a difference.

One that would change people’s lives.

She pleaded for three days without any direction. As she fell asleep that night she planned on waking up and asking all over again. This time when she awoke she knew what it was she was supposed to do.

Sew.

Malis, had never sewed anything in her life but decided to give it a shot. An idea, material, and a machine combined for wardrobe magic. Skirts, shirts, pants, bags, anything you can dream up she can make it.

As my team sat on the floor we searched through magazines and asked “can you make this?” Her answer was always a resounding yes! She explained that all she needs to do is close her eyes, pray, and the Lord will show her how to make it.

At first it sounded a little hokey to me but then we watched her. She can literally make anything you ask.
Malis runs a ministry out of the house we are staying at here in Sihanoukville. It’s called Shalom. She takes women who were selling themselves and teaches them how to sew. Readily equipped with a skill that can generate income the women do not have to resort to selling themselves for sex. Not only is it a job at Shalom, these women find refuge, community, and a Savior who died for them all because one girl dared to ask and didn’t stop until she got her answer.
