I’m going to drop you right into the middle of a battle zone. It can be found in Exodus 17 but this is the Emily paraphrase.

It’s the Israelites versus’ the Amalekites (don’t be intimidated by the name, just insert enemy). Moses, the Israelite leader, was up on the top of a hill nearby watching the battle unfold. His hands are raised high towards the sky. In Bible times this stance was symbolic of intercessory prayer to our God. Naturally the Israelites were winning whenever his hands were up. However, if they dropped his people began to lose.

Hands are not particularly heavy but if you hold them up long enough they start to feel like concrete. Try it. I dare you. You’ll start to feel like Moses in about five minutes.

Back to the story: eventually it got to the point where Moses couldn’t hold his hands up anymore so the Israelites lost.

 NOT.

Two of Moses’ close friends and fellow Israelites came up to the top of the mountain, sat him down, and each friend took an arm and held it up. The Israelites were victorious over the Amalekites that day.

Today I find myself in a place where my hands are heavy and

I need you.

I need you to be the person to hold my arms up: to intercede on my behalf.

My battle isn’t one where my life is at stake but rather an internal battle. For as long as I can remember I have been able to take care of myself. The Race, a journey I am certain the Lord is asking me to take, requires me to rely on others to support me. That reality is very tough for me to accept.

The fact is that I owe another $700 dollars by this Friday. Training camp starts on Saturday and if the money is not in my account I cannot go and therefore forfeit my spot on the January route.

That's where YOU come in. Will you consider supporting me? Every dollar counts. All you have to do is hit the “Financially Support Me” button to the left of the screen and fill out a little bit of information.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!
