We are finally doing our first Ministry!! I am so excited for our team, because it is going to be sweet!! We are in a place called Manukau, which is in Auckland. It is so amazing here. The weather is fantastic and the place where we are staying has this amazing view of Auckland. We are staying with a wonderful family who has generously opened their home for us to stay in. Tony, who is a pastor, is actually building a new church on his property right next to his house. He has a wonderful family and I am so excited to spend the next 2ish weeks with them. The girls on my team are staying in a big room with beds, pillows and sheets!! We also have our own amazing bathroom. The guys are staying up stairs in their own room and also have a nice bathroom to use too. I feel so blessed and feel like I am in luxury here!! I am so excited to not be sleeping in a tent, yet…
I am also super excited for what our ministry is. We are basically going to “hang-out” with kids that live in this area. They call this area the suburbs, but they are not like the suburbs we are used to in America. It is mainly government housing, broken families and a lot of gang activity. Today we went to church and had the pleasure of meeting some of these amazing children. They range in age from anywhere to 5 up to about 15, I believe. So our job is to basically go to this local park and just hang out with the kids. Most of the kids like to hang out at this local park, because they have nothing else to do. We will also talk a lot with their parents and ask them if they go to church and all of that. We also have some great activities planned with the kids too. We are taking them on Tuesdays around to different places to see, since most of them have never been out of their neighborhood. I am so excited to continue to share with you the joy that we bring these kids. I will keep you updated on everything that we do and anything that comes up!!
