Honesty hour- I woke up on Thursday morning and I did not want to go to ministry.

I trusted the Lord to provide for my trip and he did.
I trusted the Lord to keep me safe and he has.
So why am I so uncomfortable trusting in the Lord to provide my basic needs for one day?

I have never had to trust in the Lord to provide me something to eat and something to drink. Why was this so hard? Why can I pray about big things and for miracles to happen, but not something this small? I became comforted as my squad leader explained something the Lord had shown her during quiet time earlier that morning. She said she saw the Lord carrying a flag while leading all of us, just as if we were little kids going on a field trip. She reminded us that when we were little we didn’t have to worry about how we would get places, what we would eat or drink because our parents were there taking care of us. Just like I trusted my parents when I was a child, I needed to have childlike faith and trust the Lord that he would provide.

So we set off to a town about 20 minutes down the road, but with no money in hand we had to figure out a plan of how we would be getting there. We had to rely on God to work through others to provide for us. We explained our situation to the first bus that we saw. He rolled his eyes and laughed when we said we had no money, but he soon shook his head and allowed us to get on. We made it to the outskirts of Thamel, when we got off the bus and began to walk.

When we got to Thamel we began to pray and seek out a place for us to be able to eat, but our luck did not seem to be on our side. We set off as a group to find ministry out and about in the streets. A lady with an ice cream cone was highlighted to some of us and we went over to ask if she needed prayer. We were able to pray over her throat and that her and her daughter would be reconciled. Soon after we met a women selling hand bags and she asked for prayers for her business and family.

One of my favorite people that we met was a man named Prim. He claimed to not to believe in any specific religion and didn’t pray to any one God but was excepting of all people’s beliefs. He told us at one point that he even believed that he was God and if he is good enough to then he may be able to be reincarnated as a women. He allowed us to pray for him and explain how we know what is happening after we die. We know that there is a God and heaven will be waiting for his children to come running. Prim didn’t accept the Lord that day, but seeds were planted and we were able to have a great conversation about our beliefs and everything the Lord has in store for him if chooses to accept Him in his heart.

We all began to get hungry and started praying for someone to provide us with some food. We had already been turned down by a few places but we continued praying. Miranda had been praying for pizza all morning and kept having a restaurant named Oliva’s come to mind. We walked down the street and explained our satisfaction to the restaurant, although she was skeptical the waitress called her manager. After some time she asked us to sit and 10 minutes later a pizza arrived at our table. Tears and full hearts filled the room as we praised God because he knew the true desires of our hearts. To our surprise the waitress came out and brought out a full plate of pasta to our table. We were the only people in the restaurant and just as wewere beginning to think that food was done more food appeared on the counter. Tears flooded my eyes as they brought out two hamburgers with fires and a veggie sandwich. God is good. We left with full bellies, full water bottles, and full hearts.

We were an hour and a half walk from home, but we knew that God would provide us a way home. Several of us felt lead to ask strangers to money to get home, but I was uncomfortable with this and began to lose faith. After and hour we collected 20 rupees (20 cents).

I prayed that the Lord would put a believer in our path because they would have an understanding of what we were doing. We walked and walked to a bus and boldly asked to have them let all seven of us one for 20 rupees. The driver shook his head and laughed, but a man on the bus overheard this and offered to pay for all seven of us. While we were thanking him, he found out that we were all Christians and we got to fellowship with our new brother. Another women overheard on the bus and asked about our trip. Our Nepali friend explained our race and the girl was so encouraged. She said she was so honored and full of joy to watch us live out our faith.

God – You Provide. You don’t let your children fall, you don’t let us go hungry. Just like a child trusts their parents, we trust you. Thank you for being a good good Father.
