I can definately say that this has been a hard month for me. Between being sick and being emotionally mentally drained, this month just has had its difficulties. The first week in Malaysia, I found myself with an infection on my arm, fighting a fever on and off for a couple of days, and even just feeling miserable. It saded me that I had to say no to ministry a couple of days and was not able to go out but I knew my body just needed to rest.
The first couple of days in Malaysia, my team went to a place called Eden. This is a place where they took in people that had a disability of some sort. The first day we went, we worshiped with them for the first hour and it was so cool to here them just praise the Lord, I even attempted to sing in Chiness. At Eden, they train these men and women and give them skills to be able to get jobs and work. I was able to run around with a couple of the guys collecting recyclables at some apartment complexes.
In the first full week of ministry, my team worked with a couple of different ministries. One of the main ones we worked with was called Kawan which means friends. This is a place where the homeless can come and enjoy free meals, lay down and rest, and do their laundry. This is the week I was sick, so I did not do a whole lot.
My second week in Malaysia, my team voluteered at the Penang Adventist Hospital where we were placed with the Development Department. Here we went around the hospital selling little heart boxes to raise funds so children could have free heart surgery. Most people were really willing to give to the cause and my team was able to raise RM 3,700 towards the surgeries and we raise a total of RM 6,800 between both weeks. We all fully believe that God is going to abudantle supply for the children to have the free heart surgery.
