There is this rock in front of the government building in Varna, Bulgaria. All I knew was that it was most likely made during the communist era in the country.

Throughout our time here, we walked past this building a lot. And we even have done prayer walks around it.

During the last week, I felt the need to pray around the building more and come closer to that rock.

There from a different angle, a different perspective I see a man.

A person trying to do it all on his own.

Wow, oh wow! How there is so much hard, yet beautiful symbolism to this.

First of all, the rock (refer to last blog post about cornerstone) – – – (http://emilydashner.theworldrace.org/post/cornerstone)

And then also,

1 Corinthians 1:25 relates:
“For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.”

Excerpt from another blog post from December 2015 – – – -(http://emilydashner.theworldrace.org/post/foolishness1)

“When I recently read 1 Corinthians 1:25, I chuckled because I have been oh so foolish.

God’s foolishness is wiser than my wisdom, and His weakness is stronger than my strength.

Then, why do I so often rely on my own wisdom and my own strength?

— when God has got it from the start, and I should (key word: should) have God be in the control center of my life.

As for that control is a struggle for me…I strive for God to be in control of my life, but I still hold onto parts of it for dear life. I constantly go back and forth saying, “God, please take control of _____,” but, then still grip hold of something else.

It is a constant battle, but my hope is to have God at the center, and that is something that will be a continuing goal in my life! Let’s go to God’s wisdom and strength instead of our own!”

My prayer is for people (including myself) to not rely on our own wisdom or our own strength. Because, HELLO, our very best is still not as good as God’s “worst.”

Another piece of symbolism is that at the start of the month in Bulgaria, I received New Beginnings and New Life from the Lord…Wow, another symbolism of new growth in front of the building and rock.

Another prayer for the people of Bulgaria to come to New Life (just like the church we served alongside is named).

Thank you!

Much Love,

Emily
