Training Camp
Wow…where do I even start? These past 10 days have been more than I ever could have imagined. I never get tired of seeing the Holy Spirit move and seeing lives changed. I’ve had such a roller coaster of emotions, but I have never felt more certain in all my life, that I am EXACTLY where God wants me! …and let me tell you, that is a GREAT feeling!
There were 120 of us at camp and they split us into two squads of 60. I am on the N squad, which was then split into teams of 6-7 people. The first part of camp was a time of discovery for many of us. Discovering ourselves, discovering God, discovering our motivations, discovering out fears, discovering our weaknesses, discovering our strengths, and who we are in Christ. For me it was about surrendering control to the Lord and discovering what God says about me. He says that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, that I am more than enough, and that I am created in His image. It is funny the way the Lord works, sometimes in the most unrealistic and unconventional ways. He never ceases to amaze me! He is so complex and multifaceted that one could never get bored in discovering Him…
So, without further ado… I want you to meet my team!
Squad Leaders: Squad N has two amazing leaders who will be joining us for the first 5-6 months of the race. They will be going around from team to team to lift us up and help us get situated and acquainted with our new lifestyle.
Tara Stephenson:Tara is currently at the
G42 Leadership Academy in Spain, we were not able to meet her face-to-face, but we did Skype with her! I cannot WAIT to meet this mighty woman of God. The joy of the Lord is written all over her. I know that she is going to make an incredible
impact on all of us! …and she just seems super fun, full of life and love!
Robby Riggs: Robby was able to join us for the 10 days of training camp and what a mighty man of God he is! He spoke so much life into each and every one of us! He is one of those select few who know just the right thing to say every time! God has given him a real gift of
communication and leadership, yet such a fun spirit as well…and a ridiculously contagious laugh!
Team Name: JSL – “Jesus Said Love”
Tanna, Eric, Auston, Me, Emily, & Caley
-Our team decided to use this name because of our calling to love one another. I am in a constant pursuit in discovering what love truly is, in Him. We love because he first loved us.
“…God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect…” -1 John 4:16
Tanna Burge: is our amazing leader! She is so full of life, I love it! I instantly felt trust and respect for her and I know that she is going to be an amazing leader and I’m so proud to serve under her authority. She is also a strength coach and a masseuse, so she is going to keep us in shape next year!
Auston Copeland: Auston reminds me a lot of myself…he can be super serious and super silly. He was so friendly right from the beginning of camp. I noticed him making friends left and right. He already has a strong presence on our team and I can’t wait to watch him become the bold man God is molding him to be.
Caley Peterson: Oh Caley…I love this girl! Caley and I instantly hit it off at the beginning of camp. She was so friendly and approachable; she really made me feel so welcome at a very overwhelming time! I love to see how her mind works; she is pretty logical and organized, like me. I have a feeling we will be the ones that organize our tents and living area to make it as homey as possible!
Eric Konick: Eric has so much personality! He will defiantly been the comedian of our group and the official “ice breaker.” He has such a strong passion for the Lord and it’s evident to all that are around him! Eric and I got to share a special memory at camp when he saw his first shooting star (remind us to tell you the story sometime)
Emily Young: Yes…another Emily in my life! Emily is so awesome…she is such a go-getter! She is always down for new adventures and I love that about her. She is pretty open and straight forward and I love that. I think Emily will really help our team with communicating better and basically level us out on our emotional days! 😉
