We made it to Tanzania!

If words
could describe the journey here, I would type more, but I don’t even know where
to start! Let’s just say it was a 3 day (and night) bus ride. What ever you
might imagine African roads to look like, add a few more potholes, a little
more dust, random police checks, bus weighing stations and that about sums it
up! Oh, and another interesting part, as we would drive through towns, local
men would run up to the bus window with a box of drinks and snack. They would
hold it up to the window and you can pay as they run beside the bus! Sometimes
they would even hop on the bus and just ride to the next town! I have no idea
how they get home! haha! Whew…what an adventure! On the bright side, we did
spot wild elephants, antelope, baboons, and giraffes while riding through the
Serengeti desert…and we got a great look at the snowcapped Kilimanjaro!
staying in Iringa, Tanzania this month. It is a beautiful little town nestled
in the mountains. It’s actually quite chilly here; sometimes I can’t believe
I’m in Africa! This month we are serving with a local pastor and doing a
variety of ministry. Evangelism and preaching will be a big part of the month,
as well as hospital visits, jail ministry, teaching English, and visiting orphanages.

We have
already had the opportunity to spend some time at an orphanage on our first
day. The kids were precious…there are three German girls living and working at
the orphanage, and we got to join their “family of 50+ screaming kids to watch
Germany beat Argentina in the World Cup. It is times like these that I’ll never
forget!

I can’t
wait to tell you more about the month…internet access is rare, so I won’t be
able to keep in touch as well, but you will hear from me soon enough…
