have accomplished a MAJOR mission! I finally talked someone into letting me
drive their car! For those of you who don’t know, they drive on the left hand
side of the road, and the steering wheel is on the opposite side! Granted…it was
only through a parking lot, it took real talent not to sideswipe the left hand
side when I was parking! Mission accomplished…

Some of the WR team with campers at Soul Survivor
On Monday, we fished up
with the Soul Survivor Conference in Fielding, and packed our tents to head
south! Our next stop was in Waikanae (pronounced Why-Can-I), at El Rancho Camp. When we arrived there were 3 other WR teams
from the other squad working at the camp. Our two teams are going to be working
for the New Wine Conference. It was fun to see some familiar faces. The camp
is really beautiful and only a 20-minute walk to the beach! …but with the beach
comes mosquitoes, which has not been so much fun! The El Rancho staff has been
amazing, feeding us yummy meals and providing nice hot showers! We are all
tenting again this week because with the New Wine conference coming in, the
camp will be at capacity! They are expecting over 800 people for the family
conference!
been setting up and preparing for the large group. Some of my team is working
with the children and youth programs, but I am working as a steward. That
basically means I do whatever needs to be done! On set up day, I worked on
setting up massive tents for people staying on site…I am my father’s daughter!
Building homes one by one! 🙂 I would win any tent-setting-up contest, hands down!

registration and with all the people came the rain! It’s actually been kind of
nice, because we had a few really hot days! Since the conference started, the
stewards have been helping with security, the parking lot, setting up/breaking
down tea times, introducing speakers, monitoring seminars, etc. It’s actually
nice, because when we work a session, we get to sit in on the worship and
speakers!
Some of the racers
have been struggling with our “importance” this month… We felt a little
discouraged by some of our duties (and by duties, literally I mean cleaning up
doodies)! Even though we all said we would not have expectations, after
arriving we realized that most of us did. We expected to be roughing it in the
bush and helping people who had no idea who Christ is. Not necessarily washing
hundreds of dishes by hand, scrubbing bathroom toilets and floors, and waking
up at 3:00am to patrol camp. I heard things mentioned like, “we could be doing
this at home.” In all this, I know the Lord had something important to teach
each of us. Serving God can look like many different things. If we can’t serve
each other, how can we expect to serve anyone else? No task is small or
insignificant in the eyes of our father. When we serve in this way, we are
washing the feet of Jesus. He has called us to love one another, no matter what
that looks like. If he can trust us with the little things, He can empower us
with the bigger stuff! I will take pride in serving Him, whatever that may look
like!
