…that’s
hello is Swahili!
made it to Kenya! It feels amazing to be on a new continent! The climate is
about 30+ degrees cooler and 4 hours earlier! We’ve spent the past 4 days in
Nairobi with our squad for debrief. Our coaches came in from Holland and spent
the week pouring into us. It was wonderful to be able to decompress and process
the last three months in Asia!

the week some changes were made, after all…”This is the world race!” Anything
is possible! My team of 7 girls has become a team of 5! Sarah Schrack is now
leading another team on the race and Jess Austin decided that the race wasn’t
the best growth environment for her and she’s planning to continue perusing the
Lord in Boston! We are all confident that the changes made were for the best
interest of everyone!

night, we took a 9 hour bus ride north to Kitale, Kenya. My team is staying
with Pastor Moses and his family. He is the head of about 109 churches in Kenya
and Uganda! This month we will be doing a variety of things such as evangelism,
prison ministry, youth conferences, hospital visits, construction, etc. Moses
and his family have taken us in and made us feel at home. Surprisingly, this is
the nicest place we’ve stayed yet on the race! We have nice double size bunk
beds covered in mosquito nets! Back home, I loved my beautiful draped mosquito
net, but now it’s not so much for looks, but more for the sake of not getting
malaria! It still makes me feel like a missionary princess though…haha!

some ways Kenya looks just how I expected. As we drove past the Kibera slums in
Nairobi, there was about a hundred kids outside playing soccer on an old dirt
field with one ball, exactly as I imagined! In other ways, I did not expect it
to be so green. We are in an agricultural town surround by cornfields! I
know…amazing! A slight taste of home, although I haven’t found my Nana’s
creamed corn yet… 🙂
am so excited to be here! I feel an overwhelming joy that I haven’t felt since
I was in the Philippines. I can’t wipe this grin off my face. The people here
are so welcoming and friendly and you can see their passion for the Lord. The
kids are so adorable I just want to throw them all in my pack and bring them
home. I’m so confident that the Lord is going to seriously move while we are
here in Africa. I can’t wait to see how he uses each of us as we walk into our
giftings. We are all so ready and willing to serve and become a part of the
community here. It’s obvious that Kenya is already stealing a little piece of
our hearts! Please remember my team as we share the love of Christ here in
Kitale…

in God, our love grows more perfect”
