And I think to myself, “what the heck am I doing here?”
It is so surreal, waking up in a different country every month.
Sometimes I forget where I am.
Actually, almost always, I forget where I am as I awake in the morning.
It takes me a few minutes to get my bearings every morning,
and the last thing I feel is comfortable as I awake in a small
stagnant, room with 4 other girls in a tiny Nicaraguan home.
We are staying with our contact this month, Eliab.
He is an incredible man of God and a pastor here in Managua.
He has a beautiful wife, Janet.
And two fabulous daughters, Arlet and Karen.
I could not ask for a better month in Nicaragua.
The first week we painted.
This week we built a cement wall for a church.
And next week we will build relationships with churches around the Managua area.
I am learning to cherish every day on The World Race,
Which isn’t as easy as it should be when one is traveling the world.
It is easy to miss the “simple pleasures” of life back in the States.
I wish I could say that this journey is easy, but it is far from that.
It isn’t easy, but it is good.
It is good and so challenging.
Luke 9:23-24 says :
If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it. But whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.
What does it mean to truly deny oneself?
What does it mean to take up the cross daily, to follow Him?
What does it mean to lose one’s life for the sake of Christ?
How do you lose your life to save it?
I do not know the answers to all of these questions,
but this year I am daily challenged to deny myself for the sake of
Jesus Christ.
I am far from inadequate to be the bearer of the Kingdom of God
to this world.
But He has called,
and my only desire is obedience to His call.
Pray with me as I continue to seek God’s Kingdom in a broken world.
Thanks for all of the support!

Last weekend we were in Granada, Nicaragua. Here is a picture of the beautiful chapel from the central square in Granada.
