Today could have been a horrible day. It was supposed to be a great day of rest and relaxation at the beach, after a busy week of ministry. It didn't quite start out that way, though. But, as always, God knew what He was doing, which makes for some sweet surprises along the way.
Let me explain. As I type this, I am literally sitting on the side of a rural road in Cambodia, next to our haphazardly-parked van while cars and motorcycles honk by. Our poor little van couldn't handle the road that rivals most of Africa's turbulent highways, and so it now sits, crippled by a broken axle and an oil pan that has spilled transmission fluid all over the road. We have been here for three hours, and it will probably be another two hours before we can get the van into any sort of semblance of repair.

Still, God couldn't have picked a better place for our van to break down. On one side of the road is a gorgeous field, where we were all able to sit and enjoy quiet time with God a little earlier. On the other side of the road is a pathway along a gently flowing river. And, only a minute walk from where the van broke down, we found some thatched bamboo huts built right on the water where we were able to sit and connect to the internet (we have been spoiled this month with a 3G wifi stick, which enables us to use the internet remotely and even create a wireless hotspot. This has been especially great when we haven't had electricity…like right now…but still want to connect to the internet).

Sabrina quoted her sister a bit earlier, and I have to agree with her: If something seems too good to be true, it's probably God.
I have no doubt in my mind that God picked this perfect little place for our van to break down. And even though it would have been fun to be at the beach, I can't complain one little bit where He did provide for us to be right now. Yay, God. 🙂

After Thoughts: We did make it to the beach after all, and even ended up at a pretty little resort where $3 US let us swim to our heart's content in a beautiful pool overlooking the ocean. Thanks, Jesus. 🙂
