Hello!
And welcome to my literal first blog post in my life… EVER
My name is Emily Burwell. I am currently 20 years old and living in Cincinnati, OH.
I just finished my third year of college at the University of Cincinnati studying psychology and criminal justice and have decided to take a hiatus from my education to pursue some adventure. I believe the best way to do this is the World Race. I absolutely cannot wait to see what He will teach me and how He will be glorified on the mission field.
Over the past year of my life I have felt deeply called to mission after getting more involved with my church and have been on four short – term trips so far to Haiti, New York, Costa Rica, and New Orleans, which has now led me on this crazy and wonderful adventure where I am now leaving home for 11 months!!!
My true loves include dogs of all shapes and sizes, coffee, singing, hiking, camping and my family.
Finally,
The decision to go on this race was filled with fear and anxiety, but led by God’s grace and persistence. I truly believe this is the time for me to dive deeper into what it means to be His hands and feet.
I pray that God will use me and my teammates over the next year to not only change lives of others, but to have our own lives changed as well.
I could not be more excited to adventure away from my home and truly learn what it means to be obedient to the Lord and to be diligent with the path and the plan He has for me. I will use this opportunity to surrender my fears and give my trust to Him
