Her heart is as fiery as the hairs on her head.

Since the day she accepted the Lord as her Savior at 6 years old, she has been faithful to follow the path the Lord has set out for her. Not only has she followed it but she’s set it ablaze.

“I grew up wanting to be a teacher, missionary and artist in Africa” (Sarah Perkinson, K-Squad Racer, age 26).

More than 2 decades later, Sarah is still actively pursuing the dream the Lord gave her at 6 years old. It looks a little different than she thought but flames of passion for the Kingdom still radiate from her, warming ice cold hearts around the globe.

When I looked into her eyes for the first time, I saw embers as old as time burning behind them. One look at her could melt a heart of granite. Her wildfire words have the power to blaze through a wall of diamonds.

When I hear her speak, I am inspired to live a life of faith and prayer. They are the logs and kindling that keep her heart burning.  Much like when I read the musings of Moses, I can’t even hear her stutter.

Just a few years ago, her brother was diagnosed with a severe sleeping disorder; she couldn’t help but ask God why he wasn’t healed after so many years of waiting. The Lord’s answer came to her in a challenge: “’Would you still love me if I didn’t heal Him?’”

Then God told her to go. It was time for her to begin this journey. It was time for The Father’s dream for her to come true. Her sparks could no longer be contained.

Most people would choose to forget God’s plans and stay with their family they love instead. It would be much more comfortable that way.

Fortunately, Sarah is not most people.

“I left an ill brother and father. I left my mom to have to handle all that was involved in taking care of them. I left it in God’s mighty hands… God’s plans are bigger than mine.”

Jesus states in Luke 14:26 (NCV), “If anyone comes to me but loves his father, mother, wife, children, brothers or sisters more than me, he cannot be my follower.”

Sarah’s understanding of this verse goes far beyond that of most believers I know.

God has since shown her a dream that looks only slightly different than before. Only the course of her trailblazing has changed.

In lieu of the African plains, she has chosen to spend her time teaching art to children with special needs between bites of tear-jerking curry in India. Her sacrificial love for those children is awe-inspiring.

“Even though I can’t showmy ankles or shoulders. Even though my lips go numb every time I eat Indian food and even though its blazing hot, its where I feel called… my dream is to go where He has called me and to stop trying to make my own path.”

Sarah has been working hard to raise over 13 thousand dollars to provide for basic living expenses such as simple lodging, food and water. She has just over 3 thousand dollars left to raise to continue living radically for the Lord.

I am convinced that God has called her on the World Race to stay on the World Race but she needs your help. If you feel the Lord tugging on your heart to support her in any way go to her page at sarahperkinson.theworldrace.org and hit the ‘support me’ button.

If you are unable to support her financially, please join us in prayer as we know that finances will NOT get in the way of God’s plan for her life.

Her spark filled trail will NOT be put out!

If nothing else, I pray that Sarah’s story has challenged you to live a life of pure child-like faith.

I know her story has impacted me and many others all throughout Africa and Asia.

I cannot wait to see the bonfire she sets into motion in Central America!
