This month we’ve been workin’ hard on the children’s home in Trujillo, Peru. Most workdays consist of removing sand/dirt by wheelbarrow, making and pouring concrete and making mud bricks. Concrete days are tough work, so you gotta come with your game face on.

My work clothes after a day of concrete. Watch this short video to find out why my left shoulder is so large:

If you want to try it at home, here’s the recipe (though it’s never really that exact). What’s that? You don’t have a concrete mixing machine? Not to worry, this hunk of metal breaks down more than it works, so you can also make this recipe by hand. Dig out them shovels!

Concrete Recipe

3 buckets water
6 buckets rocks
7 buckets sand
1 bag concrete mix

Put water in mixer. Add bag of concrete mix. Dump rocks and sand into mixer. Be careful of your eyes as you pour the materials into the mixer- it will splatter. Mix for 1 minute. Fill wheelbarrow or bucket with concrete. Transport to worksite. Dump and/or pour. Repeat.
