At the beginning of this year the pastor at my church was talking about ways to dive into the bible and how important it is. He recommended starting in the gospels and then working out from there. So for the past month or so I have been reading the book of John, and honestly, I love it. While reading this book the Lord revealed to me two main things. One is how much He loves us and how much He values us as His children, but also how Jesus taught us to love and how we can love even in the most difficult times. John is the gospel of love so you can see why these to points kind of stuck out. Just reading His word has changed our relationship so much. He teaches through His word, reveals Himself to us and provides us comfort in the wonderful book we call the Bible.
To be honest I am really bad about reading His word. I enjoy quiet times,the times the Lord and I spend together, where He teaches me and I get the chance to to talk to Him. Sometimes, they aren’t easy. I struggle to sit down and spend even fifteen minutes with Him.It makes me a little sad because like the title says the bible is the best book you’ll ever read. Why? Because,we talk to God through our prayers, but He talks to us through His word and the more we read His word the more he reveals Himself to us. When we start the day listening to Him and reading His word our focus is different and He reminds us of how awesome He is and what our purpose is. He guides us and gives us instructions through the bible. He tells us how important we are, how to handle situations and He gives us the story of Jesus. The man who not only gives us our eternity, but gives us the BEST demonstration of what a life dedicated to God looks like. It can be a struggle to get into sometimes, but the Lord will surprise you with what He reveals and tells through His Word. The best things about it? It’s timeless and gives us the opportunity for a happy ending and an eternity with Him. And how cool is that?
