Every day here is different.
We wake up early.
We wake up late.
We have a plan.
We don’t have a plan.
We understand what’s going on.
We can’t understand anything.
It’s all becoming normal really.
But in a cut throat world where all we want to do is KNOW it gets really hard.
We’re in a land that is becoming familiar, but soon we will leave this too for another unfamiliar place.
Today was a wake up later, kind of had a plan, but didn’t really understand anything day.
We’ve been working in a local hotel.
The first day was facials and foot and back massages for any of the staff that wanted to come.
The second day was working in a small room unseen by any tourist. It was dark, hot and uncomfortable for 6+ people to be working. We folded an array of colored materials that the hotel uses, I stocked shelves with pop (Sam’s follows me everywhere), and we cleaned and organized.
Today we went back to the hotel, expecting to go feed bread and chocolate to people struggling with drug addiction. We ate lunch and they asked if we could work in that same room for an hour.
Of course we agreed.
We get to the room and through hand motions the gentleman asked us to put together new shelves (muscle racks, for my Sam’s Club people) for the things we folded the day before.
We start working.
The task is not hard, but the walls of this little room were closing in on me. I became overwhelmed, frustrated and annoyed.
We finished our task and headed back “home”.
Feeling like I need alone time I go up to the roof to cool down only for it to start raining.. (why God??)
So I climb down, sit at the table with my headphones on and of course the rain stops…
I sit at the table for a bit and it starts raining again, so I walk outside to take it in.
All I hear is “the storms may come, but I wash you with my water”.
We have to learn to be content //
in the knowing and the not knowing.
in the joy and in the frustration.
in the calm and in the distress.
God gives peace when you ask and he won’t let you down.
James said it best // “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.” Ch. 1:2-3
