Throughout this crazy journey called the World Race, I have learned much about myself. I have even started a little list in the back of my journal, just so I don’t forget those things. One thing that I knew about myself before, but I have been reminded of lately is that “commitment” is huge for me. I am a person that will do what I say I will do and expect others to follow through on the same. I will most likely stick to a commitment that I hate rather than not following through at all. I guess some of that is probably because I don’t like to disappoint people either. Sometimes I get frustrated and hurt when others don’t hold up their end. This is a year of commitments to the race, to the team, to people, to ministry contacts, to family, to God, and I am sure many more. Through my strong desire of commitments, I have found much peace in Scripture. I have so much fun looking in the Scriptures for God’s promises. I have come to love the word “will.” So many times in Scripture God says “I will…” and I love it because God is a God of commitment. He loves us and never leaves us. I recently was reading in Psalms 91 and towards the end, it says:
“BECAUSE he loves me,” says the Lord, “I WILL rescue him; I WILL protect him, for he acknoledges my name. He will call upon me, and I WILL answer him; I WILL be with him in trouble, I WILL deliver him and honor him. With long life WILL I satisfy him and show him my salavation.”
I love that just because we love Him, we get to claim these promises and know He will protect us, answer us, and deliver us. What an amazing God we serve! I am so thankful for the life-breathing Word. It has been a blessing to me to cling to His promises for me and my life. I hope this can be an encouragement to you and encourage you to find more promises in Scripture.
