There is lots to do in Bangkok, so whenever we aren’t doing ministry, we are doing something around the city.  We are up way too late every night.  There are a thousands of malls here.  Literally, I think.  And they’re nice ones at that.  Many of them too nice for me with designer stores.  I walked into a mall today with a v-neck tishirt and pants and felt unworthy to be there as two men in white uniform opened the mall doors for me and saluted me.  The malls are nicer than any I have ever been to.

Today, I saw my second movie this week (Today we saw “Because I Said So” and the other day, “Rush Hour 3” We’re looking forward to seeing “Hairspray” later this week).  The movie theatres are like none I’ve ever been to either.  They are huge leather seats that recline.  And you can buy sweet popcorn, similar to kettle corn.  What more could you want!

There are street food vendors everywhere that sell everything from fresh fruit to thai dishes to hot dogs, to pork legs to fresh squeezed juice to fried grasshopper, frogs, and other bugs.  There are tons of restaurants and Starbucks, but the winner that takes it home in Bangkok, is “7/11.”  Literally, on our bus ride home, we pass probabaly over 30 7/11 stores.  It’s crazy!

We have been to the Suan Lum Night Bazaar twice.  It reminds me of a permanent craft show thats only open at night every night, but instead of country-ish things for your home, it has cheap souveneirs, jewelry, bags, belts, clothes, etc.  (Minor problem finding clothing though…all Asians are extremely tiny).  We also ventured to the Chatachuck Weekend Market.  It is similar to the night bazaar just on a grander scale.  So, with the malls and markets we have done a lot of shopping.  We plan to go to a floating market this weekend.

Often, we don’t know what our plans will be until right before.  On Sunday, we planned to all meet at the Siam Mall and then go to a waterpark.  Katie and I arrived to meet everyone else dressed in bathing suits and all then the girls said they heard Gwen Stefani was in town and having a concert that night and were checking into going.  Within a matter of minutes, we were no longer going to the waterpark, had changed our clothes, glamourized our outfits and faces, and were on our way to buy tickets.  So, yesterday we had a girls night out party at the Gwen Stefani concert in Thailand.  I never thought I would be cheering when a musician was yelling, “Hello, Bangkok!”  Here’s some pics from our night:

I love my life!
