Over the last few weeks I have had the privilege of living in community with the kids and staff at Challenge Farm. The kids have fully accepted us and included us in their daily activities. Moments spent with these sweet little ones are precious; they have a light and joy about them that is contagious. Here is a glimpse into what a Saturday at challenge farm looks like:

One of my favorite things about walking across the yard from our dormitory to the girl’s dorm is the greeting from the kids. I have come to believe that few things make me feel more accepted and loved than a group of kids running towards me at full speed, yelling my name, with arms spread wide for a hug.

For most of the day the kids are free to do whatever activities they desire. Most of the younger kids choose to play the African version of Hopscotch. The object is to scoot a small stone into the next box, while hopping on one foot.

All of the girls LOVE braiding hair…. Though the braids don’t say in our fine hair as well as they do in thicker hair; the girls still lovingly attempt to help us out with the latest hairstyles.

One of my favorite things to do on Saturday is to just lie in the grass, and have conversations with the children. They are so open and honest: I love hearing their stories.

The majority of the afternoon; up until dinnertime, is spent playing with the little ones. They love tackling us, showing off, and being tickled.

I love my weekends at Challenge Farm, if you ever get the opportunity to travel to Kitale, Kenya, you should spend a weekend or to here. The Children would love it!
