Dear Europe,
You should know that you are not helpful for any world racer that is not wanting to feel too homesick. You with your bakeries, amazing restaurants on every corner, hot showers, beds, and H&M in every major city. You are so reminiscent of everything good about back home, yet all you are doing is instilling a false sense of reality.
Your bakeries remind me of Panera… But there isn’t one in sight. The restaurants are so good but always remind me of my usual places back home. The hot showers are ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL and I will miss them when I get to Africa, but when I close my eyes they remind me of my shower at home. Well, that is, until I open my eyes and I am brought back to reality that I am in fact not in a shower at all, just a shower hose hung over a toilet. Your amazing stores make me want to go shopping! I mean lets be real, who wouldn’t want to trade out some of those shirts that have been worn for months. But then I am faced with the problem every racer faces… Travel day is coming up and my pack already looks like a gypsy cart without wheels… If only my pack was more like a Marry Poppins bag.
Europe, for as much as you make me miss home, I would not trade my months spent with you for anything.
Maybe make your bread a little less enticing next time though. Thanks
Love,
Em
