What does a modern day Proverbs 31 (P31) woman look like?
When I have read through P31 in the past I was overwhelmed by all that this woman did. For me, being a P31 woman was an unattainable goal that I had to strive to reach.
But what would happen if I broke the chapter down not by all that she does, but by the traits that she exemplifies? The stuff that a P31 did in the Old Testament does not really transfer into today’s terms; however, character traits are timeless.
Once my team and I wrote out all the traits that a P31 carries we then looked for the ones that we already possess. Then we started praying about the areas that we need to grow in.
My team and I really want to be proactive about seeking God and growing in the character that he is calling us into.
For me, I am seeking to grow in…
~Confidence – I want to grow more in spiritual confidence, standing bold and unshakable in the way that God made me.
~Respect – I have a tendency to respect my elders, but I would like to grow in my respect for everyone.
~Joy – Joy is an area I am greatly lacking in. I am happy most of the time… but I want to be joyful, overflowing with God's love and light.
~Peace and Freedom – I am prone to worry about the future and the unknown. I want to live in peaceful freedom knowing that God holds my future and there is no need to worry.
~Self control – I want to learn to guard myself better… to not allow my mind or body to rule me, but to have a stable control over my actions.
~Open to correction – I can be open to correction when it is on my terms and I ask for I, but when it comes to random or public correction I put up walls.
