They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are 11 pictures from my second month on the World Race. These are some of the highlights and most important moments to me of February, 2019.

When we left Honduras, we went to a hostel in Granada, Nicaragua to debrief the first month. From the rooftop patio there was a beautiful display of God’s glory as the sun set every evening.

In a little cafe in Granada, this chalkboard caught my eye. I feel like it speaks to the World Race journey quite nicely.

On one of our adventure days, some of us went on a little boat ride to see some of the local wildlife. Among other things, we saw some white Egrets and Spider Monkeys. It was such a fun time spotting all the different types of birds and animals!

This field was once full of plantain trees, but we dug them all out and chopped them up to make room for new, more efficient crops. I was in my glory because I had a machete and a field full of trees to chop down! (photo credits to Joanna Phillips)

This gorgeous spot was a window in a church bell tower overlooking the city square in Granada. It’s a beautiful city, and I could have stayed there all day soaking in that view!

Just as we saw the end of one season with the removal of the plantain trees, we saw the beginning of another here. We planted almost 1,000 moringa seeds to be planted around the property later. The seeds and leaves have a lot of health benefits, so once these little guys grow up they’ll be used to help people in the community by providing extra nutrition and a way to help control diseases that usually need expensive medication. This lovely little lady was one of my ministries in Nicaragua. Her name is Joya, which is Spanish for Jewel. I didn’t have much time to work with her, but I taught her some basic manners in the short time we had there. We have a good Father who knows just how to make us feel loved, and if you know me you know that this ministry brought me so much joy!

At first I thought that these trees were loaded with flowers, but then I realized that they were full of plastic bags caught up after blowing away from the dump on the hill to the right. We went there several times to serve lunch to the people who pick out any sort of valuables from the trash and sell it to make money. Metal, bottles and cans, that sort of thing. It was hard to see so many people living in that environment, but I was blown away by their positive attitudes in what most would consider a decidedly negative circumstance.

While staying at the REAP Granada farm in Nicaragua, we got to watch the sun rise over this hill on a regular basis. I was admiring this view one morning and thought I would like to hike up there. That very day we got to climb to the top and pray over the whole city of Granada and the farm. What a life!

Towards the end of the month, we made our way to Jaco, Costa Rica. I’m not going to lie, the first few days were hard for me, but I’m thankful for my awesome team who helped keep things in perspective. Shout out to my Lionesses! But, despite how rough the first few days were, I’m learning how to be true to my kinda crazy self! Thanks Megatron for drawing out my silly side ;P

I hope you enjoyed this little walk through my month. I certainly enjoyed looking through all my pictures and picking the 11 that meant the most to me! Thank you for joining me on this journey!
