hey friends! i hope that you are doing well! if you didn’t know, my squad and i spent the last two weeks doing hurricane relief work in DeQuincy, Louisiana – here’s the story of what God did!!

after a month of not being able to leave the adventures in missions campus, we finally got on the road and of course had to get some of the best food known to man… taco bell.

upon arriving in DeQuincy we were met with some of the most incredible hospitality i have ever experienced! samaritans purse (the ministry we partnered with that was founded by Franklin Graham) was so gracious to welcome us into their ministry family and we got to work right away! the photo above is from our first day of ministry when we got to cut apart and clear this tree out from the front of this home. the woman who lives in this house told us that she hadn’t been able to enter into her house through the front door in almost two months. we were able to help completely clear her yard and also create space for the Holy Spirit to bring comfort to her hurting heart even in the midst of a very difficult season.

one of the neighbors came out to play and we had the sweetest time simply being kids with this cutie bug!

more! clearing! trees!

halfway through the week we got news that another hurricane was coming towards louisiana so we pack up to evacuate to dallas, texas for a couple of days while we waited out the storm! while in texas we were hosted by the Birds – an incredibly gracious and hospitable family who make it their mission to be a Kingdom home for all who need it.

while in dallas we got to snuggle this cutie lil baby!

and eat some super super yummy food (this very well might have been anna’s highlight of the week)

after a couple of days of play and rest in dallas, we went back to DeQuincy and got back to work tarping roofs!

emily made a friend during a lunch break!!

hey, look! its brook (my squad leader) and i!!

here is mr. mike and big jim nailing in the tarp on a damaged roof!

to finish off our trip, anna danced her way back to georgia on our final 13 hour road trip back home!

the two weeks my squad and i got to spend in Louisiana were such a blessing and it was absolutely amazing to see the Lord show up in such incredible ways! He was constantly revealing himself to us and to the people we got to minister to. He is so good.

thanks for reading and letting me invite you into my life over the last couple of weeks! i sure love you a lot!

with much love,

emalani <3
