Riding under the blazing Malaysian sun in a dinged up van with the windows down.
Sweat was pouring down our faces and backs.
I could tell that my team was uncomfortable, but excitement was filling within our souls knowing that we were given the opportunity to go back to an indigenous people group in the heart of Malaysia.
These kids that we get to wrap our arms around may not speak any English but the love of Christ at least does not have to be hindered from them.
Oh and there is that monkey I grew fond of last time… his name I liked to call him was Curious Jorge… He is literally the cutest thing I have ever seen.
So yes back to the van ride… all I could think about was the children and the monkey, and then I got distracted for a second cause I saw a Monitor lizard in the road (they are about the size of a Kim-otto Dragon), but then my brain scattered back to what VBS songs we had in store for the children.
This happens sometimes. We get so wrapped up in planning and thoughts that we often forget to leave a gap in our mind of a mystery that God might have something different planned for us that day.
And of course- because I serve a God that rocks, HE did.
After Curious Jorge was frightened from dogs and had to be unlatched from my head, I decided to go inside the empty room in the middle of nowhere and just wait for the children to gather.
Minutes later- this is the part where God did the game changing- a woman who remembered that me and my team where the Christians from the week before motioned for a few of us to come her way and sit at the floor around her. She had a man with her that translated to us with his broken English, and she began to make motion of her hands, patting different parts of her body.
Yes this is the group only Jesus could say,”I can use you”…

She wanted to be prayed for. She wanted us to ask God for healing for her. And so we prayed.
I wish I could end this blog saying that God did some miracle with her right then and there. Honestly nothing changed with the woman except that the smile grew a little more on her face.
But man did this impact me in a mighty way.
This woman actually saw the light of Christ within us and she just wanted to touch us, get a glimpse of Jesus and just ask for healing… like the woman in the Bible who sought after the robe of her King.
Jesus literally wrecked me this week with 1 Corinthians 1:28-30
“God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us the wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
Why do we so often forget this?
After being in societies I have noticed one thing about ANY religion, they all want to repent of their sins. They live on a mere works based system to get a better promotion in the afterlife.
But Jesus called for something different, for us to get rid of our righteousness, because we could not get rid of our sin.
To know that we can not do this on our own and that He is the only one who can do it for us….
Save us…
Redeem us…
Heal us…
This woman actually got it. This woman knew that she needed something more than she could do on her own, that the light of Him is different. SHE NEEDED JESUS!!!
I thank God that He blessed me with a lady who taught me more in five minutes than most people can teach you in five years.
I am literally blessed beyond belief by His presence and how He is moving, even if I was not able to get a glimpse of it.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers.
