Read Psalms often enough and you might find yourself thinking in them.
You alone, God, deserve the glory.
I will stand in awe of you all the days of my life
Teach me your ways, O Lord, and lead me in the way everlasting;
guard my mouth so that I may speak only your truth.
You have set the way before my feet and you ensure my every step.
I will bless the Lord forever.
My lips shall tell of his unfailing love all the days of my life;
the praise of my God shall be in my heart all the day long
for his faithfulness endures forever and his love has no end.
There is no place that the wisdom of the Lord has not searched out;
in discernment, the Lord laid the plans of creation
and established the purpose of men.
The Lord, he is God; he will be exalted in all the earth.
At the end of all time, God remains;
all peoples will give him the glory due his name.
Great is the name of the Lord!
Your grace wider than the heavens
Deeper than the oceans
Washes over me
I will sing of your faithfulness
Unending love for me
I will praise the Lord, the God of Israel for he goes before me in the battle.
The hosts of heaven are at his command;
none can stand before him.
At the sound of his voice, the wicked flee;
his enemies are terrified by his breath.
The righteous shall rejoice in the rock of their salvation
By his might, the Lord protects his anointed;
all who call upon the name of the Lord are rescued from destruction.
Those who dwell in the safety of the wings of the Most High have no fear.
Last week, my team worked together on writing Psalm 86 in our own words. Below is what I wrote down:
Bend down, Father, and answer us
for we are in desperate need of more of you.
Keep us under your protection as we follow you;
guard us as we trust in you, our God.
Show us your mercy and compassion, Father,
as we turn to you in every moment.
Fill us with joy, Lord, as we devote ourselves to you.
Lord, everything about you is good;
your forgiveness and love be overflow abundantly.
Listen closely to our urgent cry for grace;
you always hear us Lord and in your time, you answer.
No one compares to you God;
do what only you can.
Let all nations remember who you are and glorify your name alone.
You are awesome and do the miraculous because you are God.
Refine our ways by teaching us yours.
Give us undivided hearts that seek to only honor you;
may our hearts stay in an eternal state of worship to our God.
We are alive because your immeasurable love has rescued us.
Those who do not honor you seek to harm us without reason.
But your character is proven;
your anger is not easily kindled and your faithful love continues to overflow.
Your grace gives us strength to serve you throughout all generations.
Show us a sign that the victory is yours;
As your light shines through us, may others see and know that you are God.
