I remember the moment I found out Santa wasn’t real…
I truly don’t remember my age at the time, but boy do I remember that night…
Apparently mom had forgotten to wrap the gifts prior to that night. You know, when the jolly old man was to deliver our gifts. And of course, it happened to be that on that same night Ely had to wake up and use the potty. I remember returning to my room and hearing the wrapping paper… I was devastated! Yet somehow felt a bit grown up… No, not at the moment. But the next day while playing along for my little sister, I felt like I had bumped up a couple of steps on the maturity ladder, I was ready for the grown up table.
And several years later, here I am playing Santa 🙂
If you’ve read any of my previous blogs you’d know that I have 6 siblings:
an older brother, older sister, younger sister and 3 younger brothers.
Thankfully
all of us have outgrown “Santa” besides the 2 youngest.
Unfortunately, even with only 2 lists,
things can get quite expensive!
So as soon as I found out, I kept trying to hustle my little brothers into minimizing their lists to 3 gifts each.

Sure enough all my extra curricular persuasion classes paid off. One of my brothers asked for 3 things and the other for only 2. All I had to get was a 3DS game, Ninjagos and Dragonball Z action figure for one, and Ninjagos and another action figure for the other one.
I was Gold!
Until I searched these Ninjagos and Dragonball Z’s on the internet and found out that
these little miniature sized pieces of… legos’ prices ranged from $20-$150 for the sets and are apparently super popular because all of the stores were sold out! Not to mention the Dragonball X’s or Y’s that were no longer found in toy stores but could be ordered online from Korea!

 I was freaking out!!
Here I was stressing out, trying to find gifts for these kids!
They didn’t even behave so good this year, I should just get them each a lump of coal and call it a day! But No, Santa went online and bought them each their Ninjago sets and 3DS game. (Couldn’t get the Dragonball thing, it was waaaay out of my price range). Paid extra to get it delivered on time unfortunately only 2 were delivered on time 🙁  So there we were coming up with a plan. I could not bear to see their disappointed faces on Christmas day if all they got was 1 gift.

So I did what any Christian in my position would do…
I lied.
On my defense, my brother helped me make up the story.
Something about an elf named happy forgetting the gift and Rudolf running out of steam… I don’t know. Point is they bought it! And they kept the lights on the tree on every night so Santa could find his way back to the house with the rest of their gifts. On the 28th day of December, the rest of the gifts lay under the Christmas tree for both of them.

I know, that was long!
But get this…
You can learn a lot from children. Their belief in this “Santa” that brings them what they want. What in their minds, they need. It’s a practice of Faith. (Don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling you to worship a fat man in a red suit. Even my brothers know that Jesus is their only and true hero). What I mean and believe and have learned is that even if I feel and know that I am unworthy. That I am a sinner or in childrens’ terms have been naughty!
I know that if my lamp stays lit.
Even if I have yet to receive all of gifts… all of my needs.
If I truly and genuinely believe and trust that he will return.
If my light stays lit. He will return with more.
God will grant me all of my hearts desires according to his will.
And… well, budget.
Take note: He is the King of Kings, and all on this Earth belongs to him wink

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
