New Year’s is one of the most annoying holidays in our calendar.

Besides friends and family gathering together, parties and lots and lots of food! There is really nothing too special about it…

I mean, Yes.. we survived another year. Yes.. we get to see the faces of family and friends we haven’t throughout the previous year, and Yes.. we get to party! But really, besides that, what is there?

Dinner. Play dress up. Hugs and tons of Hugs.

And then, there’s the OH so famous.. New Year’s Resolutions.

So silly.

Never understood the reason behind them.

A new year, a new person?

It’s 1-1-(enter year here), this is the year I (enter resolution that will last about 2 weeks here)

I see it all the time. HEAR it all the time!

“I need to get in a diet.”

“I need to work out.”

“I need to save more.”

“I need to go back to school.”

Aaaahh… it’ll be my new year’s resolution.

Next year, and the next, and the next.

Wow..

Take your time, why don’t you just wait until the second coming of Christ, you’re good.

*SMH*

We live “immortal” lives. Somehow we seem to believe that we will live forever. That we have the luxury of pushing things until tomorrow.

Don’t misunderstand me, there is a forever.

But not here on earth. Our flesh will not become pale and sparkly in the sun.  If you die today,

there will be no second chance.

“Why put off until tomorrow what can be done today?”

We sin, we lie, cheat, lust, gossip and live these mediocre lives acting as if we have complete control over them. Not realizing that in an instant, our name (engraved on a tombstone) will be the only thing left of us.

We need to stop living for tomorrow and start preparing for it instead.

So, how do we do this?

Deal with all conflict and secrets today.

Make a decision and stick to it.

Stop relying on “when I’m old I’ll do it”.

(When you’re old, you’ll regret not doing it yesterday.)

But most important of all.

Don’t wait until tomorrow to kill Procrastination.

Here lies the

THE PROCRASTINATOR IN ME

2/6/1986 – 11/19/2013

(Oh so reliable, but will not be missed)

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

-James 4:14
