As we walk away from our guest house, here in Indonesia we are waving good bye to a group of believers that did not know each other before.
I ask myself how did this even happen?!
I think back to our first few days in Bali where we spent time specifically praying into what Papa had for us here.
I remember our first day as we were exploring on our way home from lunch, we had stopped and tasted some fruits. dragon fruit, rampootan, and mangosteen and durian, they are called the king and queen of fruits two of the most opposite fruits ever! Durian, the king, tasting like rotton potatoes or something, while mangosteen has bursts of rich flavor that is absolutely delicious!
Anyway back to my story, we came across some guys playing volleyball with their kids, we struck up a conversation and learned they were part of the Christian community in the area! So a motorbike ride later we found out where the church was and planned on going there in the morning!
And the service was going to be in english!
Really I could say the rest is history! That started a chain of connections and confirmations that led us to where we have spent our last two weeks! We had one contact when we came here, she is awesome by the way, an incredibly sweet girl! She took us to a church, and once again where all the different avenues of connections happened!
Papa made it clear to us we were here to be an encouragement to the local believers, so that is what we did!
That led us to being a part of a Bible study, having several evenings where we sat around sharing testimonies, having coffee with one another, we spoke at a Christian school to highschool students. Also did random things like putting out a free english practice sign which led to such cool opportunities!
One of my favorites was meeting young people from different islands here in Indonesia, who are being trained as teachers, and will at the end of 4 years go back to different islands and remote villages to bring education and be able to model Christianity to their community! It was such an honor to meet and encourage them, although I feel it safe to say, we left more encouraged!
Oh and the orphanage we got to spend a few days at was literally amazing! I could go on and on about our awesome new friend we made there, She is mom to over 20 kids, and she loves them well!
So that gives you a glimpse into what has been happening, and by one person who had a friend of a friend of a friend, we walk away enriched, encouraged at Papa’s faithfulness in speaking to us, and in the end we see a group of believers who now know each other and can continue to encourage each other!
P.S.
We also got so so spoiled this month! We got taken out to dinner so many times, and just randomly got our food paid for! The hospitality in this country is unbeatable!
