Another poem (a lotttt of free time in Africa). This is a spoken word, a poem that you read out loud. It’s satirical but has some points that I feel are hard but true. I wrote this  when I began to wonder what had changed in my walk with the Lord, why it was so much different then it was in America. I realized that what had changed was that I had developed a relationship with the Holy Spirit. Enjoy:)

Holy Spirit, gift of prophecy, discernment, knowledge from above.

They’re all brushed under the Christian rug.

A Christian on fire? Oh yeah, that means they read their bible everyday, always the first to volunteer to pray.

The Holy Spirit? Sure, he lives inside of you, but Jesus? He, like, died for you. God made you, shaped all you’d be.

God and Jesus be more like them, seek the Lord—WWJD?

The Holy Spirit must be the least important part of the trinity.

Everyone complains the “Jesus high” never lasts, healing the sick is a thing of the past. Being on fire for God sounds cool, but how does that work?

I mean, we live in America, it’s the 21st century—medicine heals the lepers, surgeons fix the broken, physiologist help the depressed, widows have food stamps, orphans foster care or a grandma somewhere, men possessed? Not in America, no siry, never possessed.

Maybe go tell someone they need Jesus then take a nice long rest.

The Holy Spirit? Shh. No Jesus, he died for you, God created all you see.

Prophecy? Stop making things up. Your name isn’t Jeremiah or Ezeriah, we aren’t in 400 BC.

Service, yes, that’s your gift. You’re a woman go find some kids.

Speaking in tongues? That’s for the Pentecostals, but let’s be honest they’re not even apostles—not an interpreter to be found, frauds all around.

Or the young “Jesus lover” generation. The weirdos who say they “have a word”, who cry because “God loves you so much,” who claim in faith “God will heal.”

The weirdos who don’t know when to stop, asking intrusive questions that’ll just turn people off.

That can’t be the fire, it’s just the idiots who make all us Christians look like liars.

It’ll stop and they’ll go back to a 9-5 and we can forget this embarrassing fad— the Jesus high never lasts, it’s not that rad.
