Hello my people-
The night brought nightmares. The night brought weird feelings there was someone else in the room, something dark. The night brought restlessness.
Fact: I strongly dislike Halloween and horror movies. The idea of dressing up has sounded more like a chore than fun. If I can, I avoid haunted houses.
Before the World Race I would probably say demons existed but strongly believed that if you simply leave them alone and don’t acknowledge their existence, they won’t bother you.
Reality check: There is a spiritual battle happening EVERYDAY and everyone is under attack it is just that those who are not in tune to it are oblivious to how they are being attacked and how God is fighting for your life.
There are two sides: Light and darkness, God and Satan.
God loves you and created you in his image. Satan hates God therefore He hates you and is determined to do ANYTHING to stop you from having a relationship with the Lord.
In the states, spiritual battle is often not talked about. Demons do not exist. Spirit led emotions or situations are seen as coincidental, intuition or luck.
Satan’s strategy in the United States comes in all forms of disguises. The belief that in order to be happy you need money, beautiful/handsome spouse, big house and the ultimate job along with a hot ride is Satan’s genius plot. Why? Because you spend your whole life striving for these things and even if you were to obtain all of them, it would not bring you happiness. Satan’s trick is to make you want more. Sadly, it keeps you away from the Lord and away from truly living a life of joy and contentment.
When I left for this trip I was told I was a “good” person. This broke my heart because it was coming from a place of the other person feeling inadequate, like I was on a different level of “good” than themselves. I also heard, “I would do that if I didn’t have a job.” A job they then told me they did not enjoy but justified it by being necessary to live and only “temporary.”
Anything that keeps us from experiencing life to the full NOW is Satan’s trick to keep you from being the AWESOME person God wants you to be.
Spiritual warfare is real and you are a part of it whether you acknowledge it or not.
The spiritual battle is different overseas. Money does not rule because most people don’t have it. Satan’s tool of disguise is not easily used overseas therefore he attacks with other things like demons and evil spirits.
Two weeks ago I had a hard time believing in evil spirits. I’ve believed in angles my whole life but never acknowledge my need for them. Here in Nicaragua we live next to a church that practices satanic worship. Us girls have all been attacked at night with bad dreams, haunted feelings and even visions of demons. As freaky as this is, through this experience we have learned the power we have over it.
As image bearers of Christ Jesus we have authority over our house. Since we are filled with the Holy Spirit evil cannot harm us. Evil cannot touch us. It took confidence in who we were. It took asking questions and gaining understanding on this spiritual realm to understand how to fight it. Sleep has been peaceful. Whenever we wake up, we instantly turn to prayer.
You can refuse to acknowledge the world is a spiritual place but know it is real. As a believer, striving to do good, attack is inevitable. The closer you grow to God, the more Satan tries to get you. Good news: He can’t. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our freedom therefore victory is ours!
Know this is an area I am still growing in. I still have many questions but it is in acknowledging its existence that I can begin to fight it.
Satan has told you lies and is trapping you in a “when I get this, I’ll be happy” lifestyle to distract you from the sweet life that comes when you truly give up and follow the Lord Jesus.
Walk in this, that the heavenly father loves you. Don’t give Satan power over you that he doesn’t possess.
