Hello my people-

She is in bed for life. She is unable to move the left side of her body because it is paralyzed. She is also blind therefore she can barely do simple maintenance tasks on her own. She is covered in her filth. All her family members have left her and she now lives by herself.

This is a story of one sick patient we visited in our village. We visited many more; a majority of them were unable to leave their bed or were in great pain.

This is only one side of the story but it is easier to dwell on the negative aspects of the situation and completely miss the insane reality that even in these situations: God is present and love, no matter how simple, changes lives.

Satan has engrained 4 major lies into our heart to prevent us from loving others:

  1. There are too many people to help so what difference will one life make.
  2. You can’t change the world so don’t try.
  3. You are better than those who are suffering therefore it is not your responsibility to help.
  4. Making money is more important than helping people.

These lies have trapped our society into an “I gotta get mine and look out for myself” attitude which has kept human beings from fulfilling their main purpose in life.

Here is the truth:

  1. Love is simple and is not meant to fix ones problems but to acknowledge they are not forgotten/alone.
  2. God created us for community.
  3. Jesus focused on the “one” he was not out to fix the worlds problems.

    1. John 5:1-17
  4. Jesus devoted his life to helping others.

Reality check: We are not Jesus but we ARE created in HIS IMAGE. We are created to be replicas of him on this earth therefore we have the ability and same calling, to love.

“Truly, truly I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these he will do, because I am going to the father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.” –John 14:12-14

Ultimately it is through understanding God’s love for us that we can truly love one another with no hidden agendas or expectations.

Satan will point out everything in this world to convince you it is a hopeless place.

Question is: Will you see the world how it is or how it could be?

Our visits to the sick made a difference. There was no miraculous healing but the love was thick in the room. There was joy on the patient’s face that someone would want to visit them. They were the hero’s, not us, for persevering through their situations day in and day out. Just by visiting them, my life was changed.

As for this gal, I’m gonna get a movin,’ there are too many people in this world who need to know their not alone and forgotten for me to waste any time.

Your dancing lady,
Ellie
